Please save the date and join Humboldt Park and North Lawndale commuinties for a Unity Walk-in that will celebrate solidarity between Black & Brown communities, promote health through physical activity, healing through the arts and culture, and seeks to increase peace within our neighborhoods. The Chicago Park District Night Outs in the Parks event will take place on Saturday September 18, 2021, from 10:00am - 2:00pm. The Unity Walk-in is a collaborative that grew from the Multicultural Leadership Academy of the Latino Policy Forum. H.E.Y. is a collection of artists, recreational programmers, and social service and mental health practitioners that promotes peace, healing, and unity between Black and Brown communities by creating programming and events that destigmatizes mental health awareness and access in communities of color.

The Unity Walk-in will feature a 1-hour walk through a portion of Humboldt Park from 10:00am - 11:00am, as participants will be able to exercise and meet new people from the Humboldt Park and North Lawndale communities, while they enjoy the features of wildlife and natural landscapes of Humboldt Park, one of Chicago’s most beautiful parks. The first 100 participants for the walk will receive a free T-shirt. The walk will start and culminate at the Humboldt Park Boathouse where on the boathouse grounds participants will be treated with festival-like activity and resources for all ages. Participants will enjoy performances that are representative of all generations and both communities, such as Youth Hip Hop Performers, dancers, and performance groups that honor and innovate on the traditional African diaspora and Puerto Rican art forms. Make sure to bring the entire family to enjoy local food truck vendors, Lolita’s Bodega vendors, act activities for all ages and resources for families and youth.
